Alexa Chung started to find out about fashion when she was given a wardrobe allowance on her first TV job.
The British beauty is famed for her ultra chic sense of style, and is regularly lauded for her individual sartorial choices by designers and magazine editors alike.
Alexa has explained that she hasn't always been so fashion forward though.
“Basically I didn’t have much style before I started presenting TV,” she explained to Harper’s Bazaar executive editor Laura Brown in a video clip. “And then they give you money to buy clothes. They give you a wardrobe allowance, so it was the first time I had the luxury of being able to shop properly.
"It's fashion eating its own tail."
Alexa also revealed her latest purchase in the interview. The model-and-presenter laughed off the unusual buy, admitting she hasn't decided when to sport it.
"It's a navy blue suede and wool poncho. Is everyone OK with that? I don't quite know what to do with it yet!" she laughed.
Alexa has picked up many style awards over the years thanks to her fashion sense. The 29-year-old star has joked that her fashion industry prizes sit alongside her many other accolades.
"I genuinely tripped over [one of] my style awards the other day and it made me laugh a lot," she revealed, before explaining she doesn't keep it in her office. "No, it was on my bedroom floor. My Grammys are there, my Oscars are there, my Nobel Peace Prize..."
Alexa also revealed she never knows quite how to act when she's awarded with such titles.
"Style is so subjective it's difficult to thank people properly," she explained.
