Alexa Chung thinks ribbons are the perfect accessory to dress up an outfit.
The style icon is known for her laid back and dressed down look. Alexa says when the occasion arises she looks to Jane Birkin's '60s-style dresses for inspiration and updates the outfits with choice accessories for the finishing touches.
"If I were to dress up a flapper dress it would be with a statement cocktail ring, ballet pumps and a ribbon in my hair," she revealed. "I usually don't go for dressing things up as I like to dress things down, hence boots and opaques which would be very simple would be my usual styling."
As well as her style icon Jane, brunette beauty Alexa uses other famous figures as a basis for her look which form an eclectic mix of characters. Unsurprisingly, Alexa's style is very individual and she is adamant that fast fashion items do not interest her.
"These are the people who inspire me: Keith Richards, Anita Pallenburg, George Harrison, Kurt Cobain, Marianne Faithful, Alice in Wonderland, Minnie Mouse, Grayson Perry," she explained to Grazia.com. "I don't believe in trends. I'm drawn to things I love and have my own perennial choices. For example, mini-dress, mannish shirts, black skinny jeans and ankle boots."
