Amanda Seyfried's favourite at home outfit is a pair of "moth-eaten" pants.

The stylish star has been making waves in the fashion industry after a recent spell of premiere appearances wearing gorgeous dresses by Alexander McQueen.

The 27-year-old actress' off duty look is much less glamorous, yet equally as luxurious, as her red carpet wardrobe.

"Alexander Wang made some black cashmere pants that are my go-tos. I only have one pair, and they're moth-eaten," Amanda confessed to the January edition of US InStyle magazine.

"I went to crochet class and learned how to make cashmere patches for them."

She may go to extremes to save her favourite piece of clothing, but Amanda is equally as comfortable when she isn't wearing anything at all. The actress discussed her upcoming role in 2013 movie Lovelace which involved her going nude for scenes.

"It's not about my body," Amanda explained. "It's not about me. You're playing somebody else. You're not going to believe a love scene if the people are dressed. You're not going to believe a stripper who has on a bra and underwear the whole time. At the same time, it has to do with how comfortable you are with letting people see your skin. For me, I'm OK with it."

Earlier in the week Amanda attended the New York City screening of her film Les Misérables in a gorgeous black and gold strapless gown. The on trend elegant creation included baroque embellished detailing which was highlighted by the striking colours of the dress. Amanda also pulled her hair back into a traditional plaited bun style at the nape of her neck.

"[I'm wearing] Alexander McQueen because I don't normally like to or get to wear princess dresses," Amanda told E! on the red carpet at the event. "So you know when I get the chance to, I like to wear dresses that do make me feel princessy, like this."
