Carrie Underwood's first "stupid purchase" as a celebrity was an "accident".

The country music star has recalled an impulse buy in Paris that set her back. Carrie once spent too much on a sweater because she had trouble deciphering the euro currency.

"My first stupid purchase was an accident," she told the US version of Glamour magazine.

"I was in Paris and went into one of those big, name-brand, fancy-schmancy designers, and I picked up a sweatshirt. Maybe I didn't understand the price tag. I'm really bad with numbers. But when I went to check out, that sucker was $2,000."

What's worse, Carrie has hardly worn the sweater which was made out of plain material.

"Not cashmere but thicker than cotton. I've worn it twice," she confessed.

Carrie insists she is usually more low-key when it comes to her purchases. She is also laid back with her beauty and style.

The singer thanks her hockey player husband Mike Fisher for keeping her grounded.

"I think it would be very hard to write about my Louboutins. Do you know what I mean?" she said.

"My giant house, it's not relatable. But my husband came from a small town and hardworking parents like I did, and I don't think we've lost the mind-set."
