Celebrity wedding dress inspiration
Tuesday Feb 14 2012
The Wedding Journal show returns to Belfast’s Kings Hall from February 24th – 26th and with it comes a whole host of bridal fashion. From the fantastic catwalk shows that run three times daily, to the Belfast Telegraph Style Stage featuring makeovers galore, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Celebrities create a wealth of fashion inspiration every season and with the latest trend of wearing white on the red carpet, they’re now giving us endless ideas for wedding dresses too. Here are a few of our favourites from this year’s awards season. White is definitely the new black!
Straight and simple
Choosing a dress with a simple ‘shift’ shape allows you to go all out with detailing and appliqué. Lace elements, shimmering fabrics and beading all lend themselves particularly well to this style. Make sure to select a neckline that will flatter your shape, whether that’s a deep v-neck or a straight neckline with a slight cap sleeve.
Texture
The trend towards super-textured dresses is on the up. Simple, corseted style bodices are complimented with romantic, dramatic skirts. This won’t be for every body shape, suiting taller brides best.
Sheer panels
A hint of skin beneath sheer white silk is a beautiful bridal detail that’s bang on trend this year, whether it’s on the back, décolletage area or on the sleeves.
Bows
Bows are a popular feature on wedding dresses for 2012. Wear them over-sized at the back, draped across one-shouldered gowns or cute and neat on the waistline.
Sleeves
Many of us are not fans of our arms and, thankfully, with this latest move towards sleeved wedding gowns, we don’t have to show them off on our wedding day.
Lace
The lace trend is still around and going from strength to strength in 2012. Go full throttle with this trend by wearing lace from head to toe, or employ subtle elements like lace-covered shoes or detailing on your headpiece.
Glitz & Glam
Hugely popular for winter and Christmas weddings, sparkling evening style dresses are becoming more and more popular for wedding days. The soft shades make it perfect for a glamorous daytime look, and you will sparkle the night away under the lights at your reception.
Feathers
Feathers are soft and dramatic at the same time and make a beautiful edition to your wedding look, whether they’re worn as outerwear in a bolero or shrug, or form part of the dress themselves in a dramatic feather skirt.
White Faux fur
Even spring and autumn brides might find that they need a cosy cover up for evening festivities, especially if your wedding venue has a great outdoor area. Choose a cuddly faux fur accessory to add glam and warmth for your wedding day.
Choosing your wedding dress couldn’t be simpler at The Wedding Journal Show, with over 300 exhibitors of all things wedding, including some of the most well-loved wedding dress boutiques and bridal brands in the country. Browse through dream dresses at The King’s Hall from February 24th – 26th. Buy your ticket online at www.weddingjournalonline.com and be automatically entered in to win a £25k wedding!
