Dita Von Teese says men have "never dared" buy her underwear as she's so famed for her own saucy collection.

The burlesque beauty is a big fan of vintage underwear and regularly shows off her assets in a range of flesh-baring outfits on stage. Because of her penchant for sexy lingerie, Dita says her past lovers have always avoided purchasing bedroom attire for her.

"I think the men in my life have never dared buy me underwear - I've had a lingerie wardrobe since I was 15. And, anyway, they've always been pretty impressed with my selection," she teased in an interview with British newspaper The Telegraph.

Dita worked in a lingerie boutique at 15, and now has her own line Von Follies. The stunning star loved nothing more than help bumbling men choose the right undergarments for their partners.

"The biggest mistake men make is buying something that makes a woman feel uncomfortable. My dream would be for a man to bring in his partner's favourite bra and panty and let me see what she likes to wear. Men get too hung up on what they would like their partner to wear," she explained.

"Black lace looks good on everyone and works for all seasons. It's sexy and seductive, as well as elegant and sophisticated. Red is hard to get right - it depends on the quality of the fabric - but it can be chic."
