Britain's Duchess of Cambridge wrapped up in a burgundy wool skirt suit by Paule Ka yesterday.

The style icon chose the sumptuous shade of suit in an appropriately warm fabric as she began her series of UK engagements with her husband Prince William. She opted for the look to launch a law scholarship at Middle Temple Treasury in central London.

The two-piece suit consisted of a double-breasted jacket teamed with a black lace top and ribbed skirt.

Ready-to-wear French clothing brand Paule Ka was founded by stylist Serge Cajfinger in 1988. The label is famous for creating skirt suits and sharp shapes inspired by Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn.

The length of the skirt was notably shorter than the duchess usually wears. She topped off her cosy look with black tights and sensible heels.

Prince William colour co-ordinated his outfit for the occasion by matching his tie to Catherine's suit.

This was the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's first official appearance on home soil following the couple's tour of South East Asia last month. It was also the royal couple's first UK engagement since Catherine's topless pictures scandal.

The couple visited the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple - one of the four ancient Inns of Court in central London - to meet with two recipients of a new scholarship created in their honour. It provides two trainee lawyers with the funds to train to be barristers.

This isn't a good time to make travel plans. Weather conditions and work responsibilities have a way of wreaking havoc with your schedule. Wait another few days before putting down a hefty deposit. Working behind the scenes will yield significant rewards. If someone asks you to serve as their assistant, go ahead and accept. The pay will be excellent and there will be a lot of fringe benefits, too. Don't talk about a neighbour's private life in mixed company.More
