Emma Stone's favourite dress is a plastic "rain proof" creation by designer label Lanvin.

The frock was crafted by designer Alber Elbaz for the actress' Met Ball appearance last year.

Emma liked it because she found the waterproof properties amusing.

"The best dress I ever wore was by Lanvin. It was to the Met Ball a year ago and Alber Elbaz made this dress that was completely covered in plastic flowers," Emma smiled to British magazine Company. "The whole night we were making this joke that it was rain proof because, essentially I was covered in plastic and I could just go out in the rain and I wouldn't need an umbrella."

Emma also opened up about her most recent clothing purchase. The 24-year-old has just invested in a designer spring coat, but is not usually so flashy.

"The last thing I bought was a little yellow coat. It's very fancy so don't get freaked out! And I might sound like an a-hole but... it's Prada. It's very expensive but I had a discount," Emma protested. "I don't usually buy things from Prada but I think that'll be a nice spring-time purchase."

The star is the face of beauty brand Revlon. She joked that she only applies heavy make-up for her roles in movies, as she has a tendency to consume lipstick rather than wear it.

"I can't wear lipstick because I eat it. I wore a lot for Gangster Squad. I didn't realise how much work went into a look of that era," she explained. "It took about three hours of make-up to blot out all my freckles and make my face look like one solid sheet."
