The Hollywood actress has signed a "multi-year agreement" with the US retailer according to WWD, and her contract will see her taking on a number of roles for the company.
Eva is set to launch a sub-brand Eva by Eva Mendes, become the ambassador of the label, make appearances for the brand, and also feature in a variety of advertising campaigns.
The beauty's new line will include dresses and accessories, which Greg Scott, chief executive officer of New York & Co, says the actress is "excited" to pursue.
“We want her influence in the collection. She has amazing red carpet style and also has a very unique style off the red carpet. She has a real sense of self, which will help us in terms of the design aesthetic. When we look at her, she really is confident," he added.
Eva revealed she had a lot of input into the design process, insisting she “wouldn’t have it any other way."
The actress also explained the inspiration behind her design ideas.
“I love anything that winks to yesteryear. You have to find what works for you. Quite a few times I’ve worn turbanlike accessories. In this day and age where everybody has a stylist, I appreciate the kind of woman who steps out of the box. I love feeling like an individual. I want to share all these little tips with women," she smiled.
“I have a ton of ideas, but it’s a bit early to discuss them. [The project] is taking up all my time, but in the best way possible. Everything I see is a possible design. My mind is consumed by it. I’m fortunate enough to travel to so many exotic places. I could find inspiration in a gate in Istanbul for a plate or a blouse.”
