Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that without sleep she looks like she's "been hit by a truck".

The 39-year-old has admitted that rest is her best beauty secret and she needs it to look her glamorous self.

However her busy schedule - which includes acting, singing and being a mom to her kids Apple, 7 and Moses, 5 - means she doesn't always have the time to relax.

"For me, sleep is a major thing," she said in an interview on Ask Dr. Brandt on Sirius XM Radio.

"I don't always get it, and when I don't, I look like I've been hit by a truck," she laughed.

The Hollywood actress also detailed her diet plan. She starts her day by drinking lots of water and taking vitamins. She relies on coffee with almond milk to give her a kick start and has a glass of green juice, which is a famous among celebrities.

However, she does allow herself the occasional treat. Gwyneth loves French fries and red wine and will indulge every now and again.

"Dinner is where I really go off the rails," she exclaimed.

The blonde beauty also loves doing the Clean Program. It is an elimination diet that lasts for three weeks. Gwyneth does the detox a couple of times a year.

"I find it very rejuvenating," she explained. "It's like being high."

Her diet programme is definitely working. The Oscar winning star claims she feels better than ever, and is ready to take on plenty of nude scenes in her upcoming films.

"Now, I'm my own body double," she declared.
