Mexican beauty Jimena Navarrete won the Miss Universe pageant after donning a flowing red gown and telling an audience that it is important to teach children family values.
Navarrete was first to answer an interview question and the last of 83 contestants standing in the pageant on the Las Vegas Strip.
Navarrete's one-strap gown flowed behind her as she held it out like a cape. Earlier she smiled in a violet bikini as she confidently strutted across the stage.
Navarrete was asked whether children should use the internet unsupervised and said the internet is an indispensable tool of our time.
Second was Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps, while third was Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell.

Miss Caroline Green (Lisburn) wed Mr Robin Harris (Surrey) aboard the Allure of the Seas in St. Thomas on Wednesday 4th April. Their reception is to be held in The Merchant Hotel, Belfast and they will be honeymooning in the Norwegian Fjords in June.
