Isabella Rossellini has created a bag that "reminds her of her mother" for her Bulgari campaign.
The 60-year-old Italian model and daughter of Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, described how she came to collaborate with the label on her handbag design. Isabella explains how vital a handbag is to women as it carries inside it the essentials of life.
"In the beginning Veronica Bulgari and I thought that I would create a ring. I chose a bag instead because I think a bag is like a small house that you bring with you everywhere. You put everything in it, everything that reassures you like your keys, papers, mobile phone. All the things that bring you back to your identity and your life," Isabella explained to French magazine Figaro Madame.
"I have designed a 50s style bag that reminds me of my mother but with aspects that are very much like me, for example the interior is colourful and printed with snails because I love these small animals - they have their home on their back as well."
The iconic actress explained why she chose to collaborate with Bulgari. She revealed that she has a strong bond with the brand as she remembers visiting the current flagship store in Via dei Condotti in Rome with her mother to choose jewellery.
"My link with Bulgari is very sentimental. When I go into the famous shop in Via Condotti in Roma, I obviously think about my mother and the times I came with her to choose necklaces or earrings for a movie or for herself," Isabella continued.
"It's a very joyful memory for me. So to work with Bulgari is like discovering a piece of my past and my Italian roots."
