Jennifer Garner looked perfect in purple at a Neutrogena event last night.

The event, held in New York City, was all about promoting awareness about the changing environment and how it can affect health.

The actress helped support the cause by attending the occasion and speaking about the importance of protecting skin.

“Knowing that one in five Americans will get skin cancer in their lifetime makes you realise how important it is to protect yourself every day,” she said.

The 40-year-old looked radiant, wearing a purple Oscar de la Renta dress that hit the knee and clung to her curves.

The brunette beauty accessorised with Brian Atwood court shoes in black and left her locks loose and wavy.

Her beauty look was toned down and natural, with her dewy complexion speaking for itself.

Also joining Neutrogena and Jennifer in the fight against skin cancer are Bring It On star Gabrielle Union and Nashville actress Hayden Panettiere.

Jennifer and husband Ben Affleck have both been busy recently, with the actor-and-director winning an Oscar for Argo at this year's Academy Awards.

Ben recently revealed the couple are enjoying some much-needed downtime.

"It's been a really nice time to hang out with my wife and that sort of thing, so we're just enjoying it," he smiled.

"I've been able to really just enjoy my good fortune in the last couple of weeks and sit back and kind of just take it in and not do anything, just eat ice cream on the couch."
