Jessica Biel had trouble transforming into her "dowdy" role for new film Hitchcock.
The 30-year-old actress plays Psycho star Vera Miles in the biography about Alfred Hitchcock's life during the filming of the cult classic.
But her beauty proved to be a tough challenge to overcome for director Sacha Gervasi.
"Hitchcock dressed her up in a wig and did everything he could to make the beautiful Vera Miles look frumpy," Sacha told People magazine.
The British director did his best to emulate that approach with Jessica.
But the effort was in vain.
"What Hitch tried to do to Vera we tried to do to Jessica, and the results were equally ridiculous," he explained. "It is not possible to make Jessica Biel dowdy."
The film will not be short on glamour, however.
Scarlett Johansson also appears in Hitchcock.
The actress plays Janet Leigh, who starred as secretary Marion Crane in the filmmaker's 1960 thriller Psycho.
