Jennifer Lawrence begged to switch up her character’s style in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The actress portrays heroine Katniss Everdeen in the movies, the second of which, Catching Fire, is out later this year.
The 23-year-old star prepared herself to find playing the same character over and over difficult, but was surprised by what really irritated her.
"I actually really worried at the beginning of these movies that I would get so bored playing the same person for so long. But I still love playing Katniss and am really looking forward to being her again. There's honestly no part of it that I'm bored with... Actually, that's not true. I am so bored with her braid," she laughed to Empire magazine.
Katniss is famed for her prowess with a bow and arrow, which helped her win a televised fight to the death in the first film. In the sequel – which is also based on the book series by Suzanne Collins – the character is targeted by a high-up group after her success sparks a rebellion.
The series is action heavy, which is why Jennifer’s hair needed to be swept back at all times. While the look makes sense for the story, she did everything in her power to mix things up.
"I keep asking, 'Can't I just once wear my hair differently?' But they keep saying no,” she laughed.
