Julianne Moore finds questions about the ageing process “reductive”.
The actress, who is the face of several L’Oréal products, fully supports the cosmetic company’s view of ageing and praised the brand for using women of all ages in their adverts.
The 52-year-old feels that growing old has become a subject with sexist undertones because men aren’t being subjected to the same pressures.
Showing off her timeless good looks in a stylish photo shoot for DuJour magazine, she pointed out that male stars don’t get bombarded with questions about plastic surgery and the effects of ageing.
"[It’s reductive] when a woman's life becomes, 'Talk to me about your kids and how you feel about plastic surgery.' I just think that it's boring! I don't say that to you - I say that to everyone,” she explained in the accompanying interview before praising L’Oréal for their support. "They're great because they have a range of women representing their brand, from very young women all the way up to Jane Fonda, who's 75. It's not about being beautiful for your age. It's about being beautiful at your age."
In the shoot, Julianne looks stunning modelling an array of designer outfits, with her flowing red mane and porcelain complexion making her appear far younger than a woman in her early fifties.
The Hannibal actress doesn’t appear to be afraid of growing old and looks at the process from a more philosophical point of view.
“Our fear of ageing is really a fear of dying; ageing is a physical manifestation of decay, and I think that is what's so upsetting to most people," she said.
