Kelly Osbourne dyes her hair unconventional shades as red makes her look like “a carrot”.
The 28-year-old TV personality is known for sporting pink or purple locks.
The daughter of auburn-haired Sharon Osbourne and rocker Ozzy opts for super bright shades to avoid resembling her parents.
“I would look like [mom’s] mini-me [if I had red hair]. I tried red once, and I looked like a carrot. I also wouldn’t go too brown, because then I would look like my father. But I’ve tried green, blue, purple, black. The lavender I really like,” Kelly told the UK edition of Glamour magazine.
“She [Sharon] wishes I would go back to blonde. She’ll call me and say, ‘I think it’s time for a serious change.’ I’m like, ‘Mum, you have hair the colour of a fire engine.’”
The co-host of clothing critique show Fashion Police got backlash on Twitter for dying her mane grey. Kelly isn’t bothered as she is confident silver hair is way cooler than normal “housewife” locks.
“I dyed my hair shades of grey because I like it, and it p**sed a lot of people off. Now I get tweeted 20 pictures a day of girls colouring their hair like mine. So if you don’t like it, then sorry, you have housewife hair,” she explained.
At last year’s Emmy Awards Kelly hit the headlines after she wore a $250,000 manicure. She was criticised for flaunting the extravagant diamond-encrusted nails. The unrepentant star believes most people would try the treatment if it was on offer.
“They picked a few people to wear it for publicity; it was an honour,” Kelly gushed. “It was a lot of money, but you’re telling m you’d say no? Hello! You can shut up.”
