Kristen Stewart has "become a woman", according to her stylist.

The Twilight actress is known for her tomboy look and favoured jeans and Converse shoes on the red carpet at the beginning of her career.

For the recent premieres of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 Kristen has embraced a more elegant look, opting for high fashion looks by designer Zuhair Murad.

Tara Swennen has been responsible for the 22-year-old's looks since 2007 and says she has watched the star go through a style evolution.

"Through the years, she's come into her own and so now she's letting me play a little bit more… She's become a woman since I've known her," Tara fondly told New York Magazine.

"She's a tomboy at heart - both of us are - but she understands that fashion is an arena, that she can be a chameleon and not dress the way she does every single day."

For the Los Angeles premiere, Kristen showed off a vintage style gown with daring sheer detail.

For the screening in London, she channelled a vampy look in a lacy black jumpsuit.

"Twilight is coming to a close so we wanted to do stronger looks. Just recently, she's embraced doing the long gown thing, so it was definitely an opportunity for me to stick as many as I could on her," Tara explained.

As a stylist, Tara knows that a heel is a best way to elongate the legs and cut a good shape on the red carpet.

Despite managing to get Kristen into some fancy shoes recently, she hasn't managed to completely change her tomboy ways.

"I prefer a heel - I just think it photographs better," she said.

"[Kristen] will always change into her Converse halfway through a red carpet, which is to be expected at this point, but she puts on the heels for me for the photos, God bless her. At the end of the day, I want my clients to be comfortable because I think it shows. She needs to put on her sneakers and that's alright with me. It's part of her personality. I think it's fun when she does it. But there are definitely times when I have to say, 'Please, please, please put the heel on just for me.'"
