Lady Gaga will never be “defined” by a designer or hair cut.
The eccentric popstar famously arrived at the 2011 Grammy Awards inside a glowing egg, before hatching out of the creation for a live performance. Gaga plans to continue the theme for her appearance at the VMAs next month.
"I'm sending a doppelgänger,” she told WWD. “I’m going this year as a fried egg instead of hard-boiled."
Gaga is currently making her chart comeback after taking time out this year to recover from a severe hip injury. Her new single Applause will be released on August 19, with her album Artpop to follow in November.
As always, the star has been working on a look to complement her music.
Gaga recently posed nude for a V magazine photoshoot and her stylist and fashion director Maxwell wants fans to see exactly who she is.
“I think that this time it is about letting some of it go and the focus being on the music because now she’s comfortable being naked and being who she is. The world has seen everything,” he revealed. “It’s more toned down and pulled back and chic. But it’s also that we’re making suits out of things that they would not normally be made out of, like plastic, but they’re super well-tailored and clean. Maybe she’s just wearing a simple catsuit and a head wrap like she’s wearing here, but we sort of do the craziness on the face.”
Although Gaga loves to wear bespoke designer items, she refuses to be boxed in when it comes to her style.
“When you watch each image and you watch each thing come out, they might not look exactly the same. [I’m not] defined by the same designer or defined by the same hair cut or defined by the same icon,” she explained. “The statement is that I’m not one icon. I’m every icon. I’m an icon that is made out of all the colours on the palette at every time. I have no restrictions. No restrictions.”
