Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been "in tears" over her appearance.
The actress made headlines after she was pictured with a swollen face in New York back in February. The photo sparked concern she was reverting back to her partying ways.
However, the star showed off her new svelte figure at the recent Coachella music festival.
She reportedly went on a diet and dyed her blonde hair back to her red roots as she has been miserable with her looks.
"Lindsay hasn't been happy with how she looked for a while and had even been in tears about it," a source told British magazine Closer.
"For once, she wanted to do something radical, so she dyed her hair back to her natural colour and went on a detox diet. By Coachella, there was no question she'd got her confidence back."
The 25-year-old looked radiant and healthy at the festival in a short lace dress. Friends have said they are hoping she has turned a corner after being taken off formal probation for her drink driving offenses. She is said to have found drinking caused her to bloat.
"She wasn't seen drinking at Coachella and she's been on a health kick," a source said.
"Lindsay realised booze and junk food were bad for bloating. She's a (UK) size 8 and is always skinny but she calls her face and tummy her 'fat zones' because they can get bloated. She's been trying water retention tablets, eating more healthily and really cutting down the drink."
