Nicki Minaj says her make-up can best be described as a "Barbie look".

The larger than life singer is known for her bright and bold style.

As the new judge on American Idol, Nicki has showcased a variety of attention grabbing coloured wigs and outfits.

She says when it comes to her make-up, it is always pretty much the same - the more the merrier.

"I always wear pink lips. It's a Barbie look and I love it," Nicki told the UK edition of InStyle magazine.

"I tend to stick to the same eye look- a big black lash and a big black liner. I like to layer my lashes and sometimes add glitter to my eyelids."

The over-the-top rapper has released a scent called Pink Friday eau de parfum. Nicki reflected on how pleased she is with the aesthetics of the fragrance's bottle as it captured the very essence of her style.

"I knew if there was a pink wig on the bottle [of my new scent], it would be synonymous with my persona. When they came back with a sketch, I nearly passed out - it's perfect," she gushed.

Another way Nicki likes to jazz up her look is to experiment with nail art. Unsurprisingly Nicki follows her beauty mantra in this area by trying out all manner of long, pointed designs on her talons.

"I always used to have my nails square, but now I've started wearing them pointy," Nicki explained. "I do my own nail art. I get a bunch of beautiful colours and just play until I have an abstract."
