Nicole Scherzinger says her hair is more like that of "a horse" than a human.

The American singer battles with her unruly mane on a daily basis.

The striking former Pussycat Dolls star is a global ambassador for renowned hair care brand Herbal Essences but her daily routine to tame her long, thick tresses is not as glamorous as people might think.

"I have masses of hair, like a horse! It's my Hawaiian-Filipino heritage," Nicole admitted to the UK edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. "I love hydrating it with coconut oil, or with Herbal Essences Bee Strong Conditioner; it's lush."

As well as revealing the truth about her hair hardships, Nicole explained that her heritage also affects the make-up she uses. Luckily she has discovered which products work well with her colouring.

"It can be hard to find the perfect foundation for my Asian skin tone, but Armani foundations, Make Up For Ever HD Foundation and Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint really work for me," she continued.

The star is refreshingly open about the trials and tribulations of preening herself and refuses to trust anyone with her eyebrows. Nicole also favours high end designer make-up over cheaper high street varieties.

"No one's ever touched my eyebrows! I tweeze them myself and use a brow powder and angled brush to perfect them," Nicole confessed.

"I do love a good highlight on my cheek bone, brow bones and the bridge of my nose. Armani and Chanel do the most amazing liquid illuminators."
