Olivia Palermo has summarised her image as "classic with a bit of an edge to it".

The trendsetter has been busy gracing the front row at Fashion Week and always looks effortlessly glam.

The 27-year-old says the secret to nailing a chic and polished appearance is to make accessories a priority.

"My style is classic with a bit of an edge to it," Olivia shared with British magazine Look.

"I always accessorise to pull an outfit together and give it that personal touch. So whether it's a shoe or a bag of some sort, it can be anything; [but] always accessorise."

When it comes to tips for looking stylish this season, Olivia lists leather and prints as trends to embrace.

She says a toned down make-up look works best when working a strong fashion ensemble.

"Keep beauty simple; I like a fresh face, nude lips with matte skin and smokey eyes," Olivia explained.

The style icon is hardly ever snapped looking casual. She admits she always makes an effort with her appearance but advises investing in a pair of stylish flats to prevent the foot pain heels can cause.

"Stay chic off-duty. When I get home I usually throw on my French Sole ballet flats and a nice men's cashmere sweater, but I don't really do sweatpants. I always feel a little discombobulated with them on!" Olivia exclaimed.

"Save your soles, I love ballet flats! People see me in heels a lot, but on a daily basis I'm always in little ballet pumps. They're easy for running around in, while still looking good."
