Raf Simons silent on Dior rumours
Monday Jan 16 2012
Raf Simons has refused to comment on rumours that he could become John Galliano's successor as creative director of Christian Dior.
The Jil Sander designer was asked about the speculation at Milan Men's Fashion Week but shut down the question immediately.
Unconfirmed reports that Raf is finalising the contract for his new position have been circulating since last December, with numerous fashion insiders wading in on the debate over his suitability.
"I have nothing to say," the Belgian creative told press at his Jil Sander menswear show.
Since Galliano's sacking last year, the rumour mill has been in overdrive as to who might replace him.
A number of big names, such as Marc Jacobs, have been in the running. Other people to be linked to the coveted role include Alexander Wang and Jason Wu.
Marc Jacobs reiterated once more that he won't be leaving Louis Vuitton in favour of Dior.
"It's a great honour to be considered, and Mr. Arnault [chairman of Dior] is a super intelligent man and a very smart man and it was certainly a very great honour for him to know that I was capable - and not only capable but that I am someone that he would have wanted for the job," Marc told British newspaper The Telegraph recently. "But I am very happy to be here. There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started."

Just married: Bebhinn and Damian Rodgers
Romance blossomed for Bebhinn McKinley and Damian Rodgers at a party in 2005. Policy officer Bebhinn (29), from Rasharkin, and engineer Damian (32), from Tannaghmore, both Co Antrim, had been at school together but a small gap in age meant they didn’t really know each other.
