Roberto Cavalli honoured for AIDS work
Friday Jan 6 2012
Roberto Cavalli is to be honoured for his work to help fight AIDS.
Every year amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, puts on a gala which is held just before the start of New York Fashion Week in February. At the party the organisation hands out its Award of Courage, which goes to people who have worked hard to raise awareness of the disease.
It's been confirmed that Italian fashion designer Roberto is one of the recipients this year, along with Goldman Sachs partner R. Martin Chavez and Chopard co-president Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele.
"We believe that a cure for AIDS is possible in the foreseeable future," chairman of amfAR Kenneth Cole told WWD.
"Thanks to the leadership of the fashion community, and all of amfAR's friends and honorees in New York and around the world, we are getting closer to our ultimate goal of a world without AIDS."
The event is slated to take place at Cipriani Wall Street.
Renowned fashion fan Sarah Jessica Parker will be hosting proceedings, while make-up brand MAC Cosmetics is one of the sponsors.
