Whitney Port believes a short skirt without tights can work - as long as the rest of the outfit is demure.
The 27-year-old star is both a fashion designer and style blogger, having worked for Diane von Fürstenberg before creating her own clothing range.
Whitney - who also judges on Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model - has busted the most infamous style myths that haunt budding fashionistas on her personal website.
"Wearing short skirts sans pantyhose is chic when the rest of the outfit is covered-up," she insisted to followers on her blog.
Whitney is known for her great style and on-trend outfits. The former reality TV star has also rubbished claims that certain colours and textures are best left to evening wear.
"Metallics are no longer for nighttime only," she shared with fans.
The advice is accompanied by a picture of model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley rocking a chic metallic jacket, dressed down with jeans and boots during the day.
Further fashion myths are dispelled in the star's blog post, including guidance about colours which can be worn together.
Whitney advises both brown and navy can be worn with black, while white can work all "year-round".
