Whitney Port has shared her advice about dressing appropriately for Thanksgiving.

The reality TV star-turned-fashion designer discussed the best ways to stay stylish over the American seasonal holiday.

Thanksgiving is celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday of November in the US and on the second Monday of October in Canada. The occasion often extends to the weekend that falls closest to the day it is celebrated.

"Dressing for Thanksgiving festivities usually goes one of two ways: super casual (hello, sweats!) or a little bit dressy," Whitney shared on her official website. "I believe in combining the comfort one needs to get through marathon eating with style that will be appropriate for meeting the family or grabbing drinks with friends afterward."

The 27-year-old star revealed her top five fashion tips for looking good no matter what challenges might come your way including adverse weather, over eating and gravy splashes.

Whitney's words of wisdom include wearing elasticised waistbands in order to tuck into turkey comfortably on the feasting day.

"Here are my top five tips for feeling comfy and looking cute on Turkey Day. Dress in layers - you want to be comfortable temperature-wise, too! Wear a pant or jean in a stretchy, breathable material," Whitney continued. "If you're going to be helping in the kitchen, wear colours that don't easily show stains. Black, navy, blues and burgundy are ideal."

The former star of MTV shows The Hills and The City explained how Thanksgiving doesn't mean you have to compromise your style. She explained how on trend details will take you from drab to fab while celebrating this year.

"A sweatshirt can totally work - with studs, metallics, prints and fun knits, there are so many options," Whitney revealed."Choose one item that can take your daytime look to night-time, like a high-heeled boot."

Gemini:

Someone will steal credit for your work, which is maddening. Drawing attention to the problem will only make you look petty. You're better off accepting the situation with quiet dignity and grace. Move on to the next assignment, but make sure to sign your name to every piece of work that is submitted. Tell your boss what you are doing on a regular basis. You'll sound like a pest, but at least it's better than getting stabbed in the back.More
