Whitney Port has revealed that a "loose and breezy" dress is the perfect wardrobe option for New Year's Eve.

The TV personality and fashion designer has shared what her ideal outfit would be to ring in 2013 on her blog.

The trendsetter explained that a casual and comfortable dress is a failsafe option, which can be jazzed up with accessories to give it a fresh, new feel.

"Still looking for the perfect dress to help ring in the new year? To me, a great New Year's Eve dress is something that's loose, breezy and easy to layer with," Whitney shared on her blog. "These pieces can be dressed up with heels and a chunky necklace or dressed down with booties and a thick sweater or jacket (sic)."

The glamorous star also reflected on the top fashion trends of 2012. Whitney named bold jewellery, nail art and scarves amongst her favourite style staples she's been rocking over the past year. The forward-thinking fashionista revealed she has enjoyed breaking style rules over the last 12 months, and hopes it will continue to be a big trend as we move into 2013.

"The overall theme of style in 2012 was that of comfortable exploration. Whether it was experimenting with metallics, heels or prints, they all came in comfortable forms; metallic denim, sneaker wedges and printed tees were at the helm," Whitney reflected. "Every year becomes more accepting of various trends and fashion experiments. I'm excited to see what 2013 has in store!"

This is a good time to establish a routine. Create a schedule that strikes a nice balance between your personal and professional lives. You're the type of person who needs plenty of intellectual stimulation outside of work. If you've been spending too much time at the office, reduce your hours. This may mean less money, but you can't put a price on happiness. You might even decide to take a job with unconventional hours so you can play sports or spend more time outdoors.More
