Zooey Deschanel loves Prada spirit

Zooey Deschanel's stylist Karla Welch says the actress loves the "spirit and intellect" of Prada.

The New Girl star wore the designer for the Golden Globes earlier this month and Karla told Grazia magazine why they decided on that particular dress.

Zooey is known for her quirky personality and style which worked perfectly with the "subversive" fashion house.

"We had three [fittings]. I loved the dress so much I had her come in to see it," Karla told the publication.

"It felt vintage and in the spirit of Zooey. We then had one fitting with my tailor to make sure the fit was perfect, then another to confirm the fit."

"We love the spirit and intellect of the house. And, although I have never met her, Mrs Prada seems to have a wicked sense of humour - her designs always seem to be slightly subversive."

Although Karla was the one who originally found the design she said that Zooey did not need much convincing and adored the hue.

"The dress was one of a kind. I saw the sketch, it said green and I fell in love. Zooey saw it and the first thing she said was how much she loved the colour," the stylist said.

Karla was very particular about the accessories on the big day and wanted to let the dress shine with effortless and elegant jewellery.

"Zooey wore very simple earrings and a huge pearl cocktail ring from Van Cleef & Arpel," the esteemed designer shared.
