Just because you’re a rich and famous rock star and American Idol judge like Steve Tyler doesn’t mean you don’t like to haggle on a price - especially when it’s for a dream house in Hawaii.

The Aerosmith front man saved himself a cool $2m (£1.3m) on an unusual two-bedroom, three-bathroom property on the beautiful island.

The palatial pad, situated on the beach on nature reserve Maui, cost the veteran rocker $4.8m (£3.2m).

And his new shoreside escape is a pentangle-shaped abode surrounded by palm trees and overlooking the sea.

Tyler will share the house with fiancee Erin Brady, and the pair admitted they have had the bolthole blessed which is something of an island tradition to get rid of previous bad vibes.

There is a floor-to-ceiling aquarium in the property as well as an infinity swimming pool.

The couple have had a six-year relationship, and the rock star proposed to Erin at Christmas.

Tyler said of the house blessing ceremony: “There’s always some island person that comes and blesses the house, gets rid of all, you know, whatever was left over from there before.”

He added this happened after he had asked Erin to marry him: “I gave her a ring on Christmas Day and the next morning we flew to Hawaii and we were out getting our house smudged, what’s it called there, with a great kahuna. Christened, in a manner of speaking.”

Selma Blair

Actress Selma Blair has put her West Hollywood home on the market for $1.78m.

It seems the mum-of-one wants to trade up, and feels she needs some more space for her growing family.

The Hellboy star, her fashion designer partner Jason Bleick and their young son Arthur, will now be house-hunting for something suitably salubrious.

So, her current abode which has three-bedrooms and three-bathrooms with an address near Sunset Strip needs a new owner.

The 1920s home has been extensively renovated and has modern interiors.

Avril Lavigne

Another pop star mansion has been snapped up. This time it’s Avril Lavigne, who has just sold her former marital home to LA Clippers basketball player Chris Paul.

The massive Bel Air bolthole has 10-bathrooms, two-storey foyer, offices, a 10-car garage and a wine cellar.

Other luxurious features here include custom-made walk-in wardrobes, gym, sauna, self-contained master bedroom with kitchenette and gourmet kitchen... and canyon views.
