Among those at yesterday's homecoming for Darren Clarke was last year's US Open winner and fellow Ulsterman Graeme McDowell.
He arrived at Royal Portush accompanied by a mystery brunette - and a burly security guard.
McDowell won the US Open at Pebble Beach last June, becoming the first Northern Irishman to accomplish the feat. The victory kick-started a remarkable run which has seen three Ulster Major winners in just 13 months.
Prior to Clarke winning on Sunday, G-Mac had jokingly tweeted: "Darren Clarke aiming to be the first Northern Irish golfer to win a major in almost four weeks!"
Yesterday Clarke revealed that both McDowell and Rory McIlroy - the 2011 US Open winner - have been in touch following Sunday's victory.
"They have all been very complimentary and offered their congratulations," he said.
