Paul Michael Murray - named after his grandfather Paul and uncle Michael - weighed 8lb 11oz when he was born at 7.39am on April 5 at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

Maria (20) chose not to find out in advance if she was having a girl or boy because she wanted it to be a surprise.

The young mum explained Dean (20) was by her side when Paul made his arrival in the world and they are both taking to parenthood very well.

We just love him, she said.
He's beautiful and he's doing brilliantly.

OVER 22 years as a midwife Teresa McDowell has witnessed the birth of many babies but none so special as that of her first grandchild Ruairi.

Teresa is thrilled for daughter Stephanie McDowell (26) and her partner Glenn Casement (35) on the safe delivery of healthy baby boy.

It had been expected that Ruairi would be born at the Downe Hospital where Teresa works but when a scan revealed his estimated weight was a whopping 12lbs 12ozs the delivery was switched to the Ulster Hospital.

On his arrival in the world at 8.10am on March 13, by caesarean section, Ruairi weighed the little less daunting but still considerable amount of 10lbs 2oz.

The baby boy was born two days late on January 23 at Lagan Valley Hospital's midwife led unit.
He weighed a healthy 8lb 13oz and measured 50.5cm on arrival in the world.
Proud new parents Louise (32) an accountant and Stephen (31) a civil engineer said hospital staff provided excellent care in a relaxed environment for their son's water birth.
We want to thank Mary Wallace and Maria Byrne, mid-wives at Lagan Valley, who assisted in our son's calm delivery in the birthing pool, Stephen said.
We would also like to thank the rest of the staff for their excellent care in a relaxed environment.
Louise said: Everyone was brilliant.
