Hannah and Martin Clarke are celebrating the newest addition of their family – Annabel Rose.
The couple from Lisburn welcomed their first daughter into the world on March 27 at 3.16am.
As Hannah is an obstetrician she knew she was carrying a girl, as she could read the scans done during her pregnancy.
Annabel is the Clarkes' second child. And older brother Alexander, who is nearly two, is captivated by the new arrival. "He loves her to bits and keeps kissing her forehead," Hannah said.
The young mum is full of praise for the team at Lagan Valley Hospital's midwife-led unit.
"I am an obstetric doctor and have always sworn blind that I would only deliver in large units, because I have seen everything that can happen," Hannah said.
"But I really can't praise the midwives enough. I chose a water birth. Martin was my main support and the midwife took a step back and was there if I needed her.
"There are many reasons why women are not eligible to go to a midwife-led unit, but if you can I would thoroughly recommend it."
Hannah and Martin are enjoying being parents for a second time. "We are having lots of fun," Hannah said. "Our family have all been to visit and now things are calm and we're starting to settle into a normal routine.
"I want to thank everyone who has been so kind to us, and particularly the midwives Karen and Claire.
"Also to Lynn, who saw me through my pregnancy. I've worked with lots of midwives and they are one of the best teams I have ever come across."
