Dakota Faye Bell arrived in her mother’s arms weighing a healthy 8lbs 3oz.
Although little Dakota was not due until February 5, she arrived safely after a planned Caesarean section on January 31 at 12.22am.
In spite of her early debut, parents Nicola Rice and Colin Bell from Larne had already planned to name her Dakota.
“We found out the sex of the baby during my pregnancy.
“As soon as we found out it was a girl, Colin said that he liked the name Dakota.
“It is an African-American name, although Colin likes it because he is a big fan of the American teen actress Dakota Fanning.
“We were well-prepared for the birth and the baby is doing extremely well.”
Nicola and Colin, who are both 26, work in the pharmaceutical industry, but did not meet through work.
Nicola said: “I work as a a pharmacy dispenser and Colin makes pharmaceutical drugs.
“We met on a night out in the local bar and have been together for the past eight years.”
And she added: “I would like to have more children eventually.
“If I was to have them, I would definitely deliver them here in Antrim Area Hospital.
“The nursing staff have been just wonderful to myself and Dakota.”
