Ryan and Aideen McHugh are celebrating the birth of their first daughter Grace Kathleen.
The new addition to the Castlederg couple’s family arrived by caesarean section at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry on July 23 at 9.40am.
Aideen (31) who is a receptionist and Ryan (31) a construction worker, also have a three-year-old son, Eoghan, who is thrilled that he now has a new little sister to play with.
The couple decided on Grace’s middle name of Kathleen after Ryan’s grandmother.
“We didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl,” Aideen said.
“We are over the moon to have a wee girl and Eoghan has been a very good big brother; killing her with kindness.
“Grace is definitely a McHugh. She looks a lot like Eoghan did when he was a baby and she’s very like her daddy, so people keep saying.
“She’s very alert and bright. Her eyes light up when you speak to her.
“She’s thriving, thank God.”
Ryan and Aideen praised the staff at Altnagelvin for the excellent care they provided.
“They couldn’t do enough for us,” Aideen said.
“We can’t thank them enough for their help.
“The auxiliary staff, the midwives, everyone.
“And our friends and family have also been brilliant.”
