Samm Cairns and Jonathan Coffey, from Co Down, are celebrating the birth of their daughter, Leah Violet.
Chemical analyst Samm (22) is a first-time mum, while retail manager Jonathan (29) is now the proud father of two lovely daughters.
The beautiful baby girl is the first grandchild for Samm’s parents and her middle name Violet is after Samm’s sister.
Leah was 9lb 3.5oz when she was born at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald on November 5 at 10.16pm.
“When she was handed to me, I was relieved it was all over,” Samm said. “She’s perfect. Nothing seems to faze her.
“I think she’s the double of her dad.”
Jonathan said: “I was relieved, too, because it was hard watching Samm in pain.
“Leah is amazing. I couldn’t believe the size of her. She doesn’t cry too much, but maybe I shouldn’t speak too soon.”
Samm added: “My bump wasn’t very big, so I couldn’t believe the weight she was, either.”
The Newtownards couple praised staff at the Ulster Hospital for the care the provided for the family.
“The midwives were brilliant,” Samm said. “One of them, Laura, was great the whole way through.
“But, unfortunately, she missed the birth, because her shift finished at 9.45pm.”
