Ryan Magee and Peggy Matthews, from Portaferry in Co Down, are celebrating the birth of their son, Shea Magee.

Little Shea was born by Caesarean section at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald on June 18 at 10.14am.

He weighed in at 7lbs 14oz and was 55cms from head to toe.

Peggy, who is also mum to 14-year-old Raymond, praised staff at the Ulster Hospital for the excellent care they provided.

“Everything went really well,” Peggy said.

“The surgeon and the rest of the hospital staff were brilliant.”

Peggy (35) is a warehouse manager and Ryan (25) is a warehouse operative at the same company.

The happy couple told the Belfast Telegraph that they are thrilled to have their little boy to look after and are looking forward to watching him grow.

“I couldn't begin to put into words how I felt when they handed him to me,” Peggy added.

“We knew we were having a boy, so we were hoping he looks like a Shea — and he does.

“He is the spit of his Daddy and a typical male. He doesn't like being disturbed.

“We couldn't be happier.”

Dad Ryan added: “He's great. I am feeling very proud.”
