Lisburn couple Sean and Charlotte Timoney are celebrating the birth of their first child. On November 6, at 5.24am, little Sophia Anne was born at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald, weighing a healthy 6lbs 14.5oz.
The property surveyor and court clerk, both 32, didn't know whether they were going to be having a little boy or girl, as they wanted it to be a surprise.
Their lovely daughter Sophia arrived in the world eight days late, but she was more than worth the wait.
Proud first-time mum Charlotte said: “I feel brilliant. She is so beautiful and perfect. She's great.
“It was so overwhelming when she was first born. I was so relieved everything was all right and that she was finally here with us.”
The ecstatic couple's friends and family are split regarding who the baby girl looks like and she has been given the middle name Anne after her maternal grandmother. Charlotte said Sean, like her, is thrilled to have a daughter to love and care for.
“Sean is chuffed. He's a very proud daddy and he will spoil her rotten.”
Charlotte praised the excellent standard of care she was provided with by attentive staff at the Ulster Hospital.
“They were all great,” she said. “I am very impressed that everybody was nice and supportive.
“With a first baby I was not sure what to expect, but they made it a lot less stressful.
“I want to say thanks to everyone at the hospital who has looked after us.”
The Timoney family have been inundated with visitors, messages of congratulations, cards and presents for the new addition to their happy family.
Charlotte said she was grateful for all the support they are receiving and is looking forward to all the challenges and rewards being a new parent will bring.
“We have had so many visitors and kind messages since Sophia was born,” she added.
“We want to thank all our friends and family for their support.”
Your youthful enthusiasm prompts you to do something very daring. Whether it's submitting creative work for review, asking for a first date, or applying for a plum position is immaterial. The important thing is to take a chance on your happiness. Gambles have a way of paying off. A youngster's progress at school is cause for celebration. It's important to enjoy the happy moments, because they will sustain your young friend through the low points. This is one of the most valuable lessons you will impart.More
