The look of love across the library wasn’t quite what Jane Fleming had in store when she attended the University of Ulster.

And when Jane met Andrew Dunbar on a university night out, she wasn’t impressed.

“I didn’t really fancy him, but we kept bumping into each other at parties, and eventually I decided to give it a go.”

Jane (24), who works for CPL Engineering in Antrim, married Andrew (25), an engineer with Tata Steel in Lisburn, on December 27.

The couple started dating in 2007 and Andrew proposed at the Michael Bublé concert in Dublin in September 2010.

Jane said: “I am a big Michael Bublé fan, and as a surprise Andrew organised for us to see him in Dublin.

“We stayed in the Hilton hotel in Dublin, and when we arrived Andrew had organised flowers on the bed and candlelight.

“When he got down on one knee and proposed, I couldn’t believe it and I ran into the bathroom, I thought he was joking.”

The couple were married in the Galgorm Resort and Spa in Ballymena.

“We had our ceremony in the Phantom House, I had use of the Phantom Rolls Royce on my wedding day, it made it really special.

“We then had our reception in the Great Hall.

“We chose the Galgorm as our venue after I attended a wedding fair there — it was so magical, we decided it was the place for us.”

Jane bought her dress in Logans in Cloughmills.

“I chose my dress because it was very Grace Kelly, mixed with a modern twist.

“I wanted it to fall in with the classic timeless theme of my black and ivory affair. I dressed my bridesmaids in black and ivory, and it worked really well.”

Andrew and Jane honeymooned on a Royal Caribbean Cruise, which took in the sights of Jamaica, Haiti and Mexico.

The couple built their own house in Antrim and moved in a month before the wedding.

“Nothing has really changed, no, nothing at all,” Jane said about married life.

But Andrew did just buy me a puppy for my birthday,” the new bride added.

Both my sons are quite small for their age (nine and 11) and are teased and bullied at school.

Family's dumb jibes are so hurtful

My husband and I were married for 45 years and in all that time I put up with his jokes about how dumb I was.
