Beyonce has plans for feminism
Beyonce has hinted she has plans to reinvent feminism with a Bootylicious new twist.
The 29-year-old chart-topper, who became the first woman to headline Glastonbury this year, told Harper's Bazaar magazine she's always been a feminist, but she wants to give the movement a new boost.
Beyonce said: "I don't really feel that it's necessary to define it. It's just something that's kind of natural for me, and I feel like it's what I live for. I need to find a catchy new word for feminism, right? Like Bootylicious."
The Crazy In Love singer revealed how proud she felt when she empowered women at a concert in Egypt. Beyonce performed at Port Ghalib on the Red Sea despite protests from conservative Islamic groups who did not approve of her skimpy outfits and sexy dance moves, and proved a big hit.
She revealed: "There were a lot of women in the audience in burkas. They were singing along to Irreplaceable - it was amazing! "Some of the men got really upset! They were like to their women, 'We have to get you out of here!'... I guess some of them do get annoyed. But I never want to do 'the banner thing'."
Beyonce also told the September issue of the magazine how much she admires Gwyneth Paltrow.
Beyonce said: "She pushes her boundaries all the time. You go to her house and she makes you feel like you never want to go home. She is what I strive to be one day."
