There were smiles and fun despite the rain as Northern Ireland's biggest female-only race came to Antrim for the first time.

The Belfast Telegraph's Runher headed north to stage a pop-up event at the scenic Carnfunnock Country Park near Larne.

Both runners and walkers took part in the event which started in Drains Bay completing either 5k or 10k routes through the coastal park.

Last month Runher saw a record turnout with 1,500 women taking part in an event along the North Down coastline.

Race Director Michael Jenkins congratulated all participants who turned up despite the weather.

"Last month it was the North Down coast, this month it's the picturesque Antrim coast and we're delighted to take Belfast Telegraph Runher 'on tour' and to have chosen as our first port of call the beautiful setting of Carnfunnock Country Park – gateway to the North Antrim Coast Road," he said.

"We had a record turn-out last month for our Coastal event from Holywood to Crawfordsburn with some 1,500 taking part and we knew our wonderful female runners and walkers would want to take on a fresh and new challenge as soon as possible."

Runher regular and Belfast Telegraph Marketing Manager Joanne Uprichard said the event was going from strength to strength. "It's a brilliant idea taking the Runher concept to other parts of Northern Ireland as year on year it's grown in strength within the Belfast and North Down regions," she said.

Established in 2007, Belfast Telegraph Runher is Northern Ireland's largest female-only running event.

It's important to treat yourself well. Constantly deferring to others will deprive you of the finer things in life. Carve time out of your busy schedule to pamper yourself. Taking a nap, solitary walk or hot bath will revive your spirits. Get into the habit of spending more money on creature comforts. Treat such as gourmet food, beautiful clothes and intriguing books are investments in your happiness. Others may object at being put farther down on your list of priorities, but that's their problem.More
