Whenever my partner and I visit his friends (who are nearly all couples), they all talk about his ex-wife.
It makes me feel as if I’m second best and I think it embarrasses him too, but he doesn’t like to say anything as he doesn’t want to offend anyone.
I’d like it to stop but I don’t know if I should say anything or just ignore it. HC
FIONA SAYS: GET HIM TO SPEAK UP
I find it most odd that your partner's friends think it is acceptable to talk about his ex-wife in front of you. It's very insensitive.
Do they, for some reason, not approve of you — did he leave his wife for you, for example? Whatever their reasons, I think your partner should say something to make them realise what they're doing.
It could be that you're being a bit over-sensitive, though.
They could see this as casual remarks about someone who is a mutual acquaintance rather than anything more.
