Campbell College to tell the stories of pupils lost in First World War

By Staff Reporter

Campbell College has embarked on a major new heritage project to tell the stories of the 126 pupils and teacher from the school who died in the First World War.

It aims to bring to life the stories behind the 100-year-old photographic portraits of the fallen which have lined the wood-panelled walls of Campbell's central hall for decades.

The year-long project in partnership with the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is entitled The Men Behind the Glass and marks the centenary of the end of the war.

Headmaster Robert Robinson said: "This is about paying respect to our Old Campbellians - the men and boys we lost and telling their stories. It is also about connecting these stories with our lives today and involving as many people as possible in the process."
