In my day: We quiz David Boyd-Armstrong on the time of his life

Q. What was your decade?

A. Definitely the noughties. They said the world would end in 2000, but my world opened up. It was the first time I got the opportunity to travel to Europe and the US and I met my wife Fiona in 2006.

Q. What was life like back then?

A. Busy with work but a lot of fun times. The city was changing quickly and the re-birth of the Cathedral Quarter was fantastic to see.

Q. What music were you listening to?

A. Indie and rock always dominated my iPod. Bands like Oasis, The Verve and Snow Patrol.

Q. And the style?

A. Hmm, I think the less said about that the better, but I do recall lots of denim, which apparently my wife tells me is all back in!

Q. What has changed?

A. Getting married to Fiona and launching the distillery have been the biggest things for me.

Q. Was it better back then?

A. I don't think so, it was a lot of fun and we had more freedom over certain things but I am in a great place now with the person most important to me.

David is the co-founder and distiller of Shortcross Gin along with his wife Fiona. For more information go to
