Gronholm wins Galway International Rally as Donnelly crashes

Ulsterman Eugene Donnelly suffered heartbreak when he crashed out at the last stage of the Galway International Open.

He had lead by 1.1 seconds over double world rally champion Marcus Gronholm from Finland.

The Finn, in his first time racing in Ireland, kept his cool to claim the title at the 16th stage.

British rally champion Mark Higgins had a great day finishing in third place.

Wexford man Eamonn Boland, Kevin Lynch fifth and Stephen Murphy sixth.
