Cyclist killed in accident in Dublin city centre

A cyclist had been killed in a road accident in Dublin city centre.

The collision happened just after midday on Lower Gardiner Street.

The victim was hit by a truck and pronounced dead in the Mater hospital an hour later.

Gardai said the cyclist he was in his fifties.

Gardiner Street Lower is closed to traffic between Sean Mac Dermott Street and Parnell Street for the time being as police continue their inquiry into the crash
