Eight more arrested over Tom Ward murder in Sligo

Gardai have arrested a further eight people today as part of the investigation into the murder of Thomas Ward in Sligo.

The five men and three women are being questioned at various garda stations in Sligo and Leitrim.

Seven people were also arrested on Monday in connection with the death of Mr Ward, five of whom have since been released without charge.

The 23-year-old died after being attacked while sitting in his van outside his parents' home in the Cranmore Estate on August 13th.

He is believed to have been struck in the head with a hatchet.
