Venezuela and Bolivia cut diplomatic ties with Israel
Venezuela and Bolivia have both cut their diplomatic ties with Israel in protest at its ongoing bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
The decision by the leftist governments of Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales comes a week after Venezuela expelled the Israeli Ambassador as a result of the military onslaught.
Health Ministry officials in Gaza say at least 1,028 Palestinians have now been killed in the 19-day Israeli offensive, at least half of them civilians.
The death toll includes around 300 children and teenagers.
More than 4,500 Palestinians have also been wounded.
Thirteen Israelis have died, including three civilians killed by rockets fired across the Gaza border.
Both sides have ignored a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
