Boris Johnson has bemoaned the cycling ban imposed on him after becoming Foreign Secretary.
The Cabinet minister was often pictured on his bike while London mayor, with his regular trips including a commute to his City Hall office near Tower Bridge.
But security concerns put paid to his hopes of k eeping cycling within his routine given his newer responsibilities in government.
ITV 1's Peston On Sunday suggested Mr Johnson cycles around 350 miles fewer each year due to the ban.
Mr Johnson replied: "More than that. I used to cycle all the way around London, I used to cycle everywhere and I do miss it."
Asked why he was not allowed to cycle, Mr Johnson said: "Because it involves a sort of convoy of police cyclists, plus cars, plus God knows what.
"It's nothing compared to what happened in Pakistan. There were literally 5,000 police officers and two ambulances and a fire engine."
Mr Johnson's interview also saw him p resented with a cake, a nod to his previous claims that the Government's Brexit policy is "having our cake and eating it".
