Man from Ukraine 'is tallest in US'
A man originally from Ukraine has been recognised as the tallest man in the United States.
The Guinness World Record Association measured Igor Vovkovinskiy at 7ft, 8.33in (234.5 centimetres) tall during NBC's The Dr Oz Show.
Mr Vovkovinskiy, from Rochester, Minnesota, edged out sheriff's deputy George Bell, from Norfolk, Virginia, by a third of an inch (just under a centimetre).
The 27-year-old is originally from Ukraine but moved to Minnesota with his mother when he was seven years old for treatment at the Mayo Clinic for a pituitary disease that spurred his rapid growth.
Mr Vovkovinskiy now attends the Minnesota School of Business and is pursuing a degree in para-legal studies.
Guinness said the world's tallest man is Turkey's Sultan Kosen. He measures in at 8ft, 1in tall (243.8 centimetres).
